Constitution Day
In 2004, the 108th Congress of the United States passed the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2005, Public Law 108-447. That law states that “—[e]ach educational institution that receives Federal funds for a fiscal year shall hold an educational program on the United States Constitution on September 17 of each year for the students served by the educational institution.” The 17th of September is the anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution in 1787. In compliance with Federal legislation, NWC is committed to providing Constitution Day activities every year on September 17th.
Activities include, but are not limited to interactive display on the history of the Constitution, a pocket version of the Constitution for each student who visits, a Constitution trivia contest, and general assembly forum that discusses and recognizes the importance of involved citizenship in our communities and the rights and responsibilities of citizenship in this great Nation.
