PASADENA, Calif.—Family, friends, Faculty, and Team Members gathered to honor 84 students at Glendale Career College’s 2018 Spring Commencement Ceremony this past Sunday, May 6. Held at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, the event marked a milestone moment for the graduates—the completion of many months of rigorous career training and the start of new journey in the health care field.
“I am honored to be here to be here to celebrate the accomplishments of these graduates today,” shared College President Mitchell Fuerst. “Today is the beginning of an awesome career in health care. Let there be no limit to what you can accomplish—because there truly are none. Know how proud we are of every single one of you, and how much faith we have in you and your abilities to change your communities—and our world—one person, one patient, at a time.”
Sunday’s graduates represented seven of the College’s 11 programs, including Associate of Science in Health Care Administration, Central Service Instrument Technician, Medical Assistant, Medical Insurance Biller and Coder, Professional Fitness Trainer, Surgical Technologist, and Vocational Nurse. All of GCC’s graduates undergo quality classroom instruction with hands-on training. At the heart of GCC’s practical approach, this educational delivery allows students to cement their new skills and prepares them to succeed in their chosen field.
Along with talented musicians Ilya Serov and Scott A. People, graduates were honored to hear from Keynote Speaker Ramella Markarian. An alumni of Glendale Career College, Markarian now serves as Vice President of Business Development for Adventist Health Glendale.
“I started my career as a Medical Assistant—it feels like yesterday that I stood here in my cap and gown, receiving my own diploma from Glendale Career College,” Markarian shared. “Your diploma is your ticket to your future—to your next destination. It’s up to you to take all of you learned into the real world and tackle new problems and find new solutions. You are the ones who can set examples, blaze new trails, lead and work with passion, push boundaries, and take advantage of every opportunity—big or small.”
